fear, greed and panic

Over the last few days, the standard investing punditry that is available on business TV and newspapers has turned fiercely negative. The consensus view is that we're doomed. The line-up of problems that are going to ruin us all is impressive indeed. Oil prices show little sign of relenting. Not only is the inflation rate rising, but so are inflationary expectations and that's supposed to be worse. The government seems set to transition from a principle-driven ally that was blackmailing it to an unprincipled ally that will blackmail it. Growth is slowing down. There is a ge nuine fear in the air. Among people who to invest in equities and equity-based mutual funds, the natural question to ask is what they should do now.

Tomato Boy

A Jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft.
The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as
a test.

'You are employed' he said.  Give me your e-mail address and I'll send
you the application to fill in, as well as date when  you may start.

The man replied 'But I don't have a computer, neither an email'.

'I'm sorry', said the HR manager. If you don't have an email, that
means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job.'

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only
$10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a
10Kg tomato crate.

Use Gmail as Default Mail Client

If you have still not leaped on to Linux and Mac then there’s a possibility that you are pissed off with the the Outlook Express whenever you want to send a message to mail client. Outlook made better sense in older days when you had to have some email client to send mails.

The users now like to send mails through gmail or some other email service. You can of course edit in registry so that Outlook doesn’t pop up every time you send mails but help is at hand if you are not geeky or brave enough to mess with registry.

Convert PowerPoint to Flash using iSpring

We all know that presentations are so boring yet we have to do it to climb up the corporate ladder or to impress your female colleague you fancy secretly. It’s not everyone’s forte to give excellent Power Point presentations because it requires more than just slides. A good knowledge of the subject with some practice of gesticulations before the D-day is useful.

If you want to know how a PowerPoint presentation should be given then I believe you should watch videos of Steve Jobs launching new Apple products on Youtube.

Backup Windows Mobile Data with PIM Backup

There are quite a few things that we should do to keep our data secure yet we don’t. Backing up data is one of the most important thing recommended and we just shy away it as some unnecessary preach. The fact remains that backing up your data is wise and we must do it to be prepared in case of any hard disk crash or worse. There are few solutions to do PIM for your Windows Mobile phone.

PIM Backup is a small utility you can use to backup your data and it has nice features to help you do that without any hassle. It allows you to choose what contacts, taks and likes you wanna backup and you may also schedule it. The custom option allows you to pinpoint the files or folders you want to backup and it even allows you to create more than one copies of your backup.

Thought of the day

Ethical axioms are found and tested not very differently from the axioms of science. Truth is what stands the test of experience.

Thought of the day

Common sense is nothing more than a deposit of prejudices laid down by the mind before you reach eighteen.
